Community Hub

Community Hub

The Rekai Centres recognizes the value of partnerships both with community-based organizations as well as academic institutions. We see the community hub model as one which allows for a co-ordinated system of planning, encouraging partnerships and outreach initiatives and building on existing success stories in the community.

The community hub model focuses on a delivery system that provides integrated services to people in their communities and maximizes existing infrastructure, whether it be in the public or private domain, for community benefit.

The Rekai Centres are pleased to have partnered with the following academic institutions:

By partnering with these institutions, we provide students with much needed practicum experience, afford identified staff with an opportunity to teach students and lastly contribute to a body of knowledge in a specific field in the academic institution.

The Rekai Centres are also building on community partnerships such as Dixon Hall, Toronto Intergenerational, Volunteers Toronto, Ryerson University 50 Plus programs, 519 Seniors Pride, Variety Village, Sunshine Centres for Seniors, Various Religious/Spiritual providers, SNAP, Ontario Association of Residents Councils, Children’s Literacy program, local schools & daycares, as well as forging new partnerships where there are shared values and goals.

The Community Hub initiative is spearheaded by Barbara Michalik, the Director of Community Partnerships, Programs and Volunteers. Barbara can be reached by Email
